6. The administration of citrate-containing fluid enhanced 26Al absorption 5- to 10-fold (P < 0.005), but again the Si content of drinking water did not interfere. Finally, the intestinal absorption of 26Al was approximately 15 times higher in the fasted than in the non-fasted state.
7. In conclusion, the provision of large amounts of Si in the drinking water failed to modify physiological intestinal Al absorption under basal conditions or after its stimulation by citrate. However, a prolonged fast greatly enhanced Al absorption, compared with the non-fasted state. |

Results: Oligomeric silica reduced the availability of aluminum by 67% (P = 0.01) compared with the control, whereas monomeric silica had no effect (P = 0.40). Monomeric silica was
readily taken up from the gastrointestinal tract and then excreted in urine (53%), whereas oligomeric silica was not detectably absorbed or excreted.
Conclusions: The oligomeric, high-aluminum-affinity form of soluble silica reduces aluminum availability from the human gastrointestinal tract. Its potential role in the amelioration of aluminum toxicity in other biological systems requires attention.

Okazuje się, że krzem dobrze wchłania się w postaci monomeru, ale przed aluminium chroni skutecznie tylko w postaci polimeru, żelu krzemowego nierozpuszczalnego w wodzie.
Wszakże zmniejsza wchłanianie aluminium tylko trzykrotnie i nie rekompensuje zwiększonego piętnastokrotnie wchłaniania glinu podczas oczyszczającej głodówki, jakby nie liczył.

A w ogóle skąd się bierze aluminium w żywności?
Pomijając oczywistą oczywistość, czyli opakowania, aluminium jest używane do regulacji kwasowości gleby pod uprawy. Szczególnie pod uprawy herbat.

Aluminum sulfate reacts with water to create a mild sulfuric acid solution which can help lower ph levels and give plants the nutrients they need. Aluminum sulfate can be purchased at gardening centers and even some drug stores. Sprinkling it evenly over the soil and then watering will release the sulfuric acid and lower the soil ph. |
